Typescripts & photocopies of the following items: 1. Copy of Sir David Wedderburn's "Journal", vols. iv & v, April 1874 to Jan. 1875 covering his visit to Australia and New Zealand. The "Journal" begins on 1 April 1874 in Italy & describes his journey to Australia, arriving in Albany WA in late May. From there he travelled to South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania before proceeding to Sydney in late July. In Aug. he travelled to Queensland, returning to Sydney in early Oct. On 19 Oct. Wedderburn left Australia to travel on to New Zealand. Also held is a 19 p. transcript of the entries for the period 10-26 June 1874, from "Journal" vol. iv. It describes Wedderburn's journey to & his arrival in Hobart, ascent of Mt. Wellington, reflections on convict heritage of Tasmania, visit to the Tasmanian Museum, meeting with Sir Robert Officer, travels in Tasmania & stay with the Archer family near Longford. He returned to Melbourne on 27 June 1874. 2. L̀ife Sketch, 1835-1882', by D.A. Percival, 1985 (46 p.), a biography of Wedderburn by his great nephew.
